  • Warm house

    DSC01577

We had our housewarming party this past weekend, but I forgot to take pics. But now that the house is all ready and made up, I can at least show you the house. These flowers grow outside for some reason.

    Here’s the living room.

The cats prefer the cat condo.

    DSC01573

Here’s the bedroom, complete with LEGOs, of course. We are worried about how hot this place will be in the summer, but hopefully the window fan/dark curtains will help.

Here’s the kitchen ,which is quite big and nice.

Here’s my little corner with my computron.

Oh, and I brought my Cycad from Cali now that I don’t live in a basement (first time in 2 years).

-Some other notes: just passed 1,500 edits on Wikipedia!
-I go to Moab with my Mom Thursday!
-I got a job! It is a summer job with a large local mining company. Could it turn into more? We’ll see.

Now, the real reason to post: two great YouTube videos that are must see:

This is the best case of premature celebration I’ve ever seen.

This is a animated parody video of the Black Eyed Peas’ ridiculous video “Imma Be” or “I’m a bee”. The song is campy-catchy, but the animation makes the watch very worth it.

  • SFW IV: Isabella and Red Rock

    DSC01519

Last week, I used my ample time of not working to go out to Cali to visit the geo friends once again, in Super Fantastic Weekend 4: Dog Days of Spring. It was fun, but Andy, it was not the same without you…

    DSC01496

The first stop was to Andrew’s, where I got to meet his new sweetie Michele and his new dog Wyatt.

    DSC01507

Next stop was my dad’s, where I got to see his (now grown) puppy, Queenie… I LOVED the fact that she would place her ears ON her head when she was inquisitive. Both of these dogs are also unknown mutts… any guesses?

    DSC01505

Oh, and if you ever wondered why I am such an eccentric pack rat, I get it from my dad. Here is half his magnet collection and his sticker collection.

    DSC01508

From Ridgecrest was a short trip to Lake Isabella, past Onyx, CA… one day, I have to bring Onyx the puppy there!

    DSC01513

Onyx was too young to come on this trip, but Patch and Gracie were a good compromise.

Lake Isabella was nice, kind of buggy, but it gets worse, so I’ll take it.

    DSC01518

Of course, we all wanted to see Meghan… she was very climb-y and chew-y… moments later, she was sucking on that blue bin.

    DSC01521

Kylie was the new addition… is that a cute face or what?

    DSC01522

I have to show this place next to our dinner spot in Isabella: how exactly do you eat a take-out buffet?

    DSC01555

The next day we went to Red Rock Canyon state park, another place I had been many, many times as a child.

    DSC01539

My dad was able to pick out a nice spot for us.

    DSC01547

We drove on this long road to get to this overview… I was hoping it was redder, but ti was still cool, and I found a strange piece of Opal that may have been an organic replacement of some kind.

    DSC01544

All and all, another fun trip, another great SFW. Soon, hopefully, it will come to Utah as well…

    DSC01500

P.S. Random pic of a cat-shapped dune in the Cronese Mountains of California, along I-15 between LA and Vegas.

Instead of showing pics of a bunch of boring stuff that has and will be going on, I’d figure you’d prefer random pics of Onyx.

This are going well with the new house and puppy, despite my lack of sleep. The house is really coming together, and we will have our house warming dealie soon.

    DSC01473

No news on the job front… but, at least I’m not too bored with not working yet. I did recently do a talk for a local environmental group about Snake Valley that went really well.

    DSC01483

Tonight, I get to see my favorite active band, Muse, with a decent opener of Silversun Pickups. Can’t wait!

    DSC01471

Tuseday, I leave for Cali. There will be a quasi-SFW and a visit to my Dad and Fernando if everything goes according to plan.

    DSC01476

My Mom will be in Utah at the end of the month, doing the SE Utah trip to compliment the SW Utah trip we did last year. We might even do Mesa Verde, which I’ve never seen!

So, I got an email about 33,000 United Frequent Flier miles of mine (mainly from Mongolia) about to expire. At the same time, Fernando was reminding me about UCLA @ UT-Austin, Sept 25th. So, a few minutes, 25,000 miles, and a $10 fee (about all I could afford to spend right now), and I am Texas bound! Will it live up to the Knoxville trip? That’s a big task, but we’ll see.

    DSC01487

One more trip to talk about: my buddy Armando is set to be hitched the weekend after 4th of July, so I should be seeing my Bay Area folks then too. Stay tuned!
