  • SFW IV: Isabella and Red Rock

Last week, I used my ample time of not working to go out to Cali to visit the geo friends once again, in Super Fantastic Weekend 4: Dog Days of Spring. It was fun, but Andy, it was not the same without you…

The first stop was to Andrew’s, where I got to meet his new sweetie Michele and his new dog Wyatt.

Next stop was my dad’s, where I got to see his (now grown) puppy, Queenie… I LOVED the fact that she would place her ears ON her head when she was inquisitive. Both of these dogs are also unknown mutts… any guesses?

Oh, and if you ever wondered why I am such an eccentric pack rat, I get it from my dad. Here is half his magnet collection and his sticker collection.

From Ridgecrest was a short trip to Lake Isabella, past Onyx, CA… one day, I have to bring Onyx the puppy there!

Onyx was too young to come on this trip, but Patch and Gracie were a good compromise.

Lake Isabella was nice, kind of buggy, but it gets worse, so I’ll take it.

Of course, we all wanted to see Meghan… she was very climb-y and chew-y… moments later, she was sucking on that blue bin.

Kylie was the new addition… is that a cute face or what?

I have to show this place next to our dinner spot in Isabella: how exactly do you eat a take-out buffet?

The next day we went to Red Rock Canyon state park, another place I had been many, many times as a child.

My dad was able to pick out a nice spot for us.

We drove on this long road to get to this overview… I was hoping it was redder, but ti was still cool, and I found a strange piece of Opal that may have been an organic replacement of some kind.

All and all, another fun trip, another great SFW. Soon, hopefully, it will come to Utah as well…

P.S. Random pic of a cat-shapped dune in the Cronese Mountains of California, along I-15 between LA and Vegas.
