First, I will say good-bye. I will not be updateeing my Xanga much anymore.
No, I am not quiting, and I’m not tired of Xanga. I just will be unable to update a lot in the near future.
On Tuesday, I’m getting GIAC’d up. GIAC (Geologic Italian Adventure Consortium) is the UU G&G graduate field trip this year. We are going to Italy for 3 weeks. Total cost to us: about $500. An oportunity I could not pass up. So, I’ll be in Italy until mid June.
After that, I’ll update with pics from that trip, but then I gotta get ready for Mongolia. Yup, Mongolia is on, I’ll be there from late June to the end of July. So in August, I’ll be a regular again. It’s a crazy schedule, but somebody’s gotta do it.
But first, my most recent trip w/ Alysen to the San Rafael Swell.
So, before I trek the world, I wanted to trek w/ my better half. We went to the San Rafael Swell, a rec area in the northern part of southern Utah’s famous glory. We got a little lost on the way, so we got to our campspot at Ceder mountain in the dark.
We had no idea that we were next to a cliff with a remarkable view.
We hiked around in some cool slot canyons in an awesome conglomerate with great imbrication.
But, by far, the view was the best. This is just BLM land in Utah, It’d be a very popular and famous national park if it was in Virginia, Kansas, Iowa, or 25+ other crappy states (I only say crappy in comparison, of course).
We also checked out the Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur quarry. Can you ID this dinosaur from these very distinctive bones?
